For people in Norway concerned to stop the abuse of families carried out by the social services here, it is important to see as many examples as possible showing the problem to be present in many countries. It is not indeed an accidental aberration of Norwegian society only. The widespread occurrence of this same sort of behaviour on the part of state agencies ostensibly in the service of protecting children, is on the one hand depressing: it's comprehensive and rather big. On the other hand, it should give us hope: We can both get help from abroad, from people there who experience the same kind of misguided social policies, and we can join in to support them as well. We are none of us alone.

Not least we can help by warning countries who have not yet developed this kind of advanced interference in ordinary family life against doing so. Official Norway is an active spreader of misguided child protection: Our authorities keep sending large sums of money to Eastern European countries to 'help' them build child protection systems on a pattern resembling our own.
The Czechs taking part in a demonstration three years ago against Norwegian child protection (which has confiscated the two children of a completely normal and loving Czech mother living in Norway,) had reached an adequate understanding of how this seductive influence works. After demonstrating in front of the Norwegian embassy in Prague, they marched with their banners across the Karl Bridge into the old town, to the building which houses "Norway Grants", and called out loudly: "Keep your money! Give us our children back!" One of the best speeches I can remember to have heard about the international character of this whole issue was given at the time, by Václav Klaus Jr. He says:
"The problem is not only in Norway, even though the situation achieves the most horrific values in Norway ... everything is pretty much ready here to start the same system. We already have the very similar "Barnevernet" law, we already have paid foster parents so people don't take kids for giving them love but to get money. We have those so called non-profit organizations that organize the whole process. Now it is just about waiting when all the current social workers will be replaced by the zealous activists. Then the same inferno starts here as well. ... The situation is serious and I really don't understand (to) those appeals for peacefulness demonstrations because they're stealing children! What could be wors(t)? They may make new regulations, they may increase taxes. So, ok, we'll be poorer. But they are stealing children from mothers! Let's resist, let's fight back!"
Jan Simonsen, who has been active in Norwegian politics, including as a member of parliament and a representative in the Council of Europe's 'Committee for Legal Affairs and Human Rights', writes:
"Until now, the major protests against Barnevernet have come from abroad. It is noteworthy that great efforts and mobilisation are required to improve child welfare in Norway. I have helped to the best of my ability with advice to foreign politicians and others, articles in foreign newspapers and joining demonstrations outside the Norwegian embassies abroad."
